Sierra Madre Greening Program

The “InLife Sierra Madre Greening Project: Protecting the Environment and Lives Using Bamboo Thru Community Work and Cooperation,” is a three-year project establishing a bamboo nursery and plantation in Nueva Ecija. This is in partnership with the local government of General Tinio, Nueva Ecija and the Philippine Bamboo Foundation. More than 1,400 bamboos will be grown on five hectares of land in General Tinio.

The project aims for the reforestation of lost tree cover in Sierra Madre, in hopes of developing the degraded land into a bamboo tourism site. It will also benefit the people in the surrounding communities and the people in nearby communities for livelihood opportunities.
