Insular Foundation Adopts More Beneficiaries

Insular Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Insular Life, has adopted 1,410 elementary pupils for the current school year through the foundation’s Adopt-A-Scholar Program.

Under the program, P1,461,000 in total educational assistance were distributed to  scholar-beneficiaries from nine elementary schools nationwide.

According to Insular Foundation Program Manager Teresita Melad, the program aims to help pupils from poor families by providing for their basic school needs such as bags, notebooks, shoes and other important school items.

This is because pupils drop out of school because they do not have the necessary supplies for their schooling.

Ms. Melad added that this year, the scholar-beneficiaries have been increased to 1,410 from 160 last school year, due to the support of InLife employees and agents who all made cash contributions.

During a recent turnover of bags, school supplies and shoes to 175 Grade 1 students at Alabang Elementary School in Muntinlupa City, Melad expressed hope that all the scholar-beneficiaries will complete their elementary education by 2024.

Marissa Andanza, school principal, encouraged the Grade 1 students to study well to show appreciation to InLife employees. She also challenged the scholars’ parents to commit themselves to guide their children to finish their elementary education.

“The bag, school supplies and shoes that you received come from Insular Life employees who would like all of you to finish Grade 6. We hope to sustain 175 scholars with the commitment of the parents,” Ms. Andanza said.

Aside from Alabang Elementary School, the Adopt-A-Scholar six-year program is being carried out in Itaas Elementary School in Muntinlupa, and Balili Elementary School in Benguet.

Also for this year school year, InLife agents adoptedscholars in Wangan Elementary School in Davao, Patagueleg Elementary School in Cagayan, Bangar Elementary School in Ifugao, Inaad Elementary School in Ormoc, Old Kawayan Elementary School in Tacloban, and Tabok Elementary School in Cebu.
