Insular Foundation welcomes 27 new Gold Eagle Scholars

Twenty-seven (27) freshmen students from the University of Philippines-Diliman, Aurora State College of Technology, Benguet State University, Bohol Island State University, Central Mindanao University, and Davao Oriental State University became the new Insular Gold Eagle Scholars for School Year 2021-2022.

The new scholars attended the briefing done by Insular Foundation where scholarship benefits and expectation from each scholar were presented.

Opening the event was IFI Executive Director Ana Maria R. Soriano who said, “This scholarship from the Insular Foundation will give you some degree of flexibility and independence because you and your parents do not have to worry where to get the money for your necessary expenses for your college years,” She added though that apart from high grades, “One criterion we look for in selecting our scholars are the traits that will show us your potential to be good influencers and leaders. So be involved in meaningful pursuits, and enjoy college life without losing sight of your purpose – which is to get your BS degree at the prescribed time.”

Scholarship benefits which include stipend, transportation, and book allowance, scholarship renewal rules, and 2-year service requirement were discussed and explained to the new scholars.

On behalf of the new scholars, Mr. Bryan Bryle Lloren of Bohol Island State University shared how he is immensely grateful to be selected as a Gold Eagle Scholar. “My long-term goal of becoming an educator and a dream for my family is a step closer to reality because of your selfless act of generosity. By awarding me this scholarship, you have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school and that is learning. Donors like the Insular Foundation absolutely make life brighter for us and I can hope that one day, I too will be in a position to bring smile to another needy student.” Ms. Avryll R. Arda, Gold Eagle Scholar from UP Diliman, echoed the same appreciation for Insular Foundation. “Together with your help, we could absolutely do so much. This scholarship that you granted is not just for us, the scholars, rather, it will be for our people. As a future educator, this scholarship will serve as my motivation to do greater good, at ika pa nga ng ating mamamayan - Ang edukasyon ay para sa kabataan at para sa bayan.”

Also present in the briefing to convey their continuous support to the program were representatives of scholarship offices of University of the Philippines-Diliman and Aurora State College of Technology.

Insular Foundation’s Gold Eagle College Scholarship Program is currently supporting 108 scholars taking up Education in all 6 partner state universities and colleges, and Mathematics and Statistics in UP Diliman. This scholarship program aims to support intelligent and deserving students who need financial assistance to have access to the best education they need to improve their lives, their home, and the country.
