Insular Foundation Gets Physical with Larong Pinoy
Aiming to bring back the joys of playing with other children and
promote the value of Filipino heritage through games, Insular Foundation, in
partnership with Magna Kultura Foundation, gathered about 80 children composed
of employees’ dependents and children from Gawad Kalinga Manggahan Kawayanan
Village for the Larong Pinoy (Filipino games), at the Insular Life headquarters
in Alabang, Muntinlupa The
activity, which aimed to reintroduce Filipino games to participants, included a
short lecture conducted by Magna Kultura Foundation Executive Director Dickie
Aguado, and a demonstration of some games such as jack en poy, piko, limbo rock, karera ng sako, suot lusot, patintero and
luksong lubid. It was a truly
exciting day for the kids, who ended the activity saying it was a Magandang Araw para Mag-Larong Pinoy!

Children play patintero, a game that pits two teams against each other, with one team trying to pass through a grid manned by the other team, without being tagged by the opposing team’s members.

Luksong Lubid is played by using a rope which two individuals hold from both ends, turning it, while a third jumps over it without touching any part of the rope.
The participants, made of children from the Gawad Kalinga Manggahan Kawayanan Village and Insular Life employees’ dependents with Insular Life employee volunteers and Magna Kultura Foundation Executive Director Dickie Aguado
